           Getting Started

One of the best things you can do if you are either struggling with a family law matter or are considering getting a divorce, is to call the Law Office of Michelle M. Hansen to arrange for a free thirty (30) minute consultation.  You owe it to yourself to get the best advice possible from the very beginning.  Often, individuals attempt to navigate the Court system without legal representation and by doing so they not only end up spending more money attempting to undo an unfavorable result or in some cases their actions have future implications that cannot be reversed.  For example, many people fail to plan for future health insurance coverage needs, children's college tuition or a move to another city or state when they are separating or going through a divorce and they may agree to terms that have devastating future results.  These individuals often waive future rights to alimony, property, parent's rights, support, assistance with the cost of a child's increased expenses, the right to move or relocate, health insurance coverage and a whole host of other potential rights.

Even though getting a divorce can be time consuming and stressfull, the process can be less overwhelming if you take the time to review your financial situation, gather tax documents, real estate deeds, etc. and bring your questions and concerns with you when you meet with Attorney Michelle M.Hansen.

For many struggling in this economy, legal costs can be overwhelming.  However, due to Attorney Michelle M. Hansen's more than 20 years of experience as both a litigator and a mediator, individuals seeking an uncontested divorce with Attorney Michelle M. Hansen have in some instances been able to complete the divorce process for less than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).  If you want to learn more about the benefits that divorce mediation can achieve (lower cost, one Court hearing, no retainer required and reduced waiting time), click on the "Mediation" icon at the top of the page.  You owe it to yourself to explore the benefits of mediation even if you do not think your spouse or partner will agree to it, you will be better informed.
